We Proudly Serve the Pets of Braselton, GA, and Beyond
We know pet surgery can feel overwhelming, and you likely have questions. Here are some FAQs to guide you. If you need more info, call us at (706) 607-0500—we’re happy to help!
What can I expect when I come to FairPet Surgery Center for the first time?
Scheduling: At FairPet Surgery Center, we schedule our surgeries as most clinics schedule appointments and don’t have clients drop their pets off all day while the pet waits their turn in the surgery suite.
Scheduling our surgeries tightly allows for you, the pet owner, to be present with your pet during the sedation period and in the post-op period. We stick tightly to our schedule. This means that you won’t wait longer than you need to, and your pet won’t become unnecessarily stressed.
Since our scheduling format is different from most surgery centers, you may feel somewhat rushed in the pre-op period. Our team will be drawing blood samples. (if needed) and placing IV catheters in the room while you are speaking with the vet. Our goal is to have your pet on the surgery table within 30 minutes of your arrival. This will feel very fast, but your pet will appreciate the shorter vet visit!
Waiting: While you wait, please relax in our lobby. And yes you can actually relax! We have drinks, snacks, and comfortable chairs, as well as some tables if you need to get some work done. Our friendly host can also direct you to local restaurants and coffee shops. Don’t worry–we will text you.. when your furry friend is almost finished with surgery.
Why is the bloodwork charge separate? Can't it be included in the total surgery price?
Good question! We separate the bloodwork charge for a few reasons:
- We accept your vet’s bloodwork if it has been drawn within three calendar days of the surgery. No need to pay twice for bloodwork!
- Sometimes, we are doing more than one procedure on a pet. If we included bloodwork in the surgery price, these owners would be charged multiple times for bloodwork.
How are you able to keep your prices low?
At FairPet Surgery Center, we only do surgery. This means that our inventory, staff, and equipment overhead can be kept low. We pass our savings on to you!
What happens if my pet has a surgical complication, or if he/she seems to be having an issue with surgical recovery?
We strive to make ourselves available to our clients, and we know that many of our clients come from far away to see us. When you take your pet home, we will provide you with an emergency number that you can call for the next 3 days after surgery should the need arise.
We have the ability to video chat with you, so we can help you determine if your pet has a true emergency or if the issue is something that can wait for your regular vet to address. If your regular vet is unable to help, do not hesitate to reach out to us.
What about rechecks after surgery?
At FairPet Surgery Center, we work with your trusted veterinarian to take care of any post-op rechecks, suture removals, or evaluations. The only surgery we perform that requires a visit back to our clinic is the TPLO knee procedure, as the recheck for this procedure requires X-rays under sedation that have to be positioned in a very specific way. Most regular vets are not trained to position the knee correctly for these X-rays.
