Pet Stomach
This is a routine prophylactic procedure to tack the stomach to the abdominal body wall. This is done to prevent flipping and twisting of the stomach, which can lead to life-threatening gastric dilatation and volvulus (GDV). GDV is a common cause of death in large breed dogs (usually giant breed, deep-chested dogs, i.e. Great Danes, Mastiffs, Great Pyrenes, German Shepherds, Afghan hounds). This is often done alongside a neuter or a spay.
GDV surgery is an emergency procedure that must be performed within 1-4 hours of a GDV taking place. It involves surgical abdominal exploration, decompressing and deflating a severely air-distended and twisted stomach, followed by gastropexy (taking the stomach to the abdominal wall).

Pet Hip Surgery
An FHO is a femoral head osteotomy. This is the removal of the head and neck of the femur (thigh bone) to change the nature of the joint. This is sometimes required as a salvage procedure to remove the ball and socket hip joint which is painful from either hip dysplasia, Legg-Calve Perthes disease, or severe hip arthritis.

Pet ACL Surgery
Orthopedic procedure that changes the shape of the shin bone to correct the geometry of the joint. This addresses the root of the problem with ACL tears. It involves reshaping the bone with the use of a bone plate and screws.
This procedure involves placing an implant on the outside of the joint to mimic the action of the ACL. We do not perform this surgery in dogs weighing more than 30lbs. An x-ray evaluation of the knee is required to confirm whether your pet is a good candidate for this surgery
Knee procedures: There are two knee surgeries we perform in animals, both done to correct a tear of the cranial cruciate ligament (aka ACL). The type of surgery your pet needs will depend on x-rays of the knee, which have to be performed under sedation by someone trained to take specific views of the joint. Because specialized training is required, we usually have to do these X-rays on-site unless the pet has seen a specialist first. The cost of X-rays is included in the cost of the procedure.

Removal of testicles that never descended into the scrotum.
This involves removing the uterus only, leaving the ovaries behind. It allows for natural hormones to remain with the pet for its lifetime. Ovaries can be removed at any time.
This allows the testicles to remain with the pet, preserving the pet’s natural hormones. The pet will be fertile for about 3 months after the procedure, so caution is warranted to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

Pet Urinary Surgery
- Incision into the bladder to remove urinary bladder stones.
- Stone analysis to Minnesota $250. This is optional but recommended so your vet can appropriately treat your pet and hopefully prevent the type of stone your pet is prone to getting.
- Surgery of the vulva to correct a malformation that predisposes the dog to chronic urinary and vulvar infections.
- This procedure involves an operation of the penis to convert it to a more vaginal type of opening to prevent recurrence. This procedure is at high risk for complications like chronic non-healing wounds, urinary tract infections, or subsequent obstructions. It is an absolute last resort for multiple recurring idiopathic male feline obstructions.
